# Create a presentation from a template

Use a published Template to create a customized presentation.

The Template is not the finished presentation. It is the reusable system Decky follows to create a new presentation.

1. Choose the Template you want to use.
2. Answer any questions the Template requests.
3. Add requested files or relevant information.
4. Ask Decky to create the presentation.
5. Decky follows the Template's structure and instructions.
6. Decky fills or generates the areas it can change.
7. Review the presentation and make additional changes with Decky if needed.

This gives teams consistency without requiring identical presentation content.

### What stays consistent?

Depending on the Template configuration:

* Slide structure and layouts
* Preserved content
* Recurring instructions

### What can change?

Depending on the Template:

* Fillable content and customer or meeting information
* Information from requested files and answers to Template questions
* Dynamic slides

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://decky.gitbook.io/decky-docs/templates/create-a-presentation-from-a-template.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
